Commercial Broker

Arlington/Roe, a family-owned property/casualty wholesaler and managing general agency since 1964, has an outstanding opportunity for a Commercial Broker within our Brokerage team. This position has the ability to work remotely.

Summary Job Statement:

The purpose of this position is to build & maintain a book of commercial brokerage risks by cultivating agency & carrier relationships, providing expertise, top tier service and teamwork.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance sales or underwriting experience
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation and organizational abilities
  • Growth and results-driven mindset
  • Ability to deliver client-focused solutions and create long-lasting relationships
  • Travel to agent and client locations as required as well as travel to attend meetings, sales events, and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments (some overnight stays)
  • Must be comfortable working with dynamic & diverse customers, and able to handle personalities and situations with a positive attitude
  • Continue to work to improve technical skills via formal education, self-study, seminars, and attainment of professional designations
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary
  • Proficient computer knowledge including, but not limited to, all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Hold a professional insurance designation or work towards one

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively market our Commercial Brokerage products to our retail agents
  • Evaluate & identify exposures, needs & opportunities, & pair with the correct markets for terms.
  • Negotiate the best terms & coverages available with accessible markets while properly communicating with all producers regarding submissions & decisions for new or renewal business in a timely manner
  • Prospect, develop and maintain effective producer relationships, emphasizing superior service for the generation of company income
  • Maintain new business growth via production goals while also maintaining a renewal book (when applicable)
  • Research accounts & generate or follow through on those sales leads/submissions
  • Receive & respond to calls/requests concerning problems, delays, discrepancies, etc. & provide resolution so that all parties are satisfied
  • Conduct a determined number of agency visits (physical or phone/video) per month to cultivate relationships & to reveal opportunities
  • Collaborate and work effectively within the Brokerage team and across department lines
  • Develop strong carrier relationships & knowledge
  • Collaborate with retail agents in making sales presentations to insureds
  • Meet personal and team sales targets
  • Provide expertise & intelligence regarding specific industries, coverages, markets & forms
  • Continue to work to improve technical skills through increased experience, formal education, self-stud, seminars, and attainment of professional designations
  • Mentor & develop staff
