Arlington/Roe, a family-owned property/casualty wholesaler and managing general agency since 1964, has an outstanding opportunity for a Commercial Binding Underwriter servicing agents within Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska. For this specific position, Arlington/Roe is looking for candidates located within the central and upper Midwest to service our agents.

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of commercial lines experience with exposure to underwriting
- E&S wholesale experience is required
- Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred
- Proficient using multiple carrier systems and agency management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products to include but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong multi-tasking and able to prioritize
- Strong organizational skills and is flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
Essential Functions:
- Servicing a high volume of accounts independently utilizing carrier websites and online rating systems
- Evaluating and analyzing new business submissions, renewals, and endorsements to ensure they meet the carriers underwriting guidelines
- Reviewing individual risks for acceptability and handling those within authority based on company underwriting guidelines and standards
- Using critical thinking and understanding of the market and underwriting best practices to evaluate risk to determine acceptability, best coverages, and solutions
- Planning completion of assignments to meet service standard goals established by the Commercial Lines team
- Consulting with agents and collaborating with internal partners regarding underwriting decisions
- Providing clear communication of rationale for decision and options. Choosing most effective communication method based on the issue, situation, and audience
- Maintaining customer files accurately and consistently; responsible for proper documentation of files and proper communication to all in accordance with department workflows and procedures
- Strengthening agency relationships through regular contact on underwriting matters, promoting new business growth, and profit and renewal retention
- Building and maintaining positive agency relationships via phone calls, emails, and agency visits
- Partnering with manager, carriers, and state territory managers to profitably manage and grow our commercial lines book
- Contributing as a leader within the department regarding product knowledge, carrier knowledge and underwriting expertise
- Serving as a resource for internal staff when addressing technical underwriting issues
- Training and educating agency staff on carrier products and underwriting philosophies
- Performs other duties as assigned
