Business Development Associate, Minnesota

Summary Job Statement:

This role consists of a 24 month training and development program that will prepare the participant to become a sales professional. The focus of the training program will be increasing new submissions, quotes and premium through the promotion of web based and telephone quoting systems to Arlington/Roe’s agency customers in Minnesota. Applicants must reside within Minnesota, this is not a work from home position.

Education:

  1. College degree OR equivalent business experience preferred but not required
  2. P&C licensed producer or commitment to obtain P&C License within 60 days
  3. Candidates will be expected to pursue continuing education and insurance designations/licenses as outlined in the training and development plan. This will require self-study.
  4. Strong communication and organizational skills, networking and relationship ability and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  5. Remain flexible under the pressure of a heavy workload and critical deadlines
  6. Open to coaching and continuous improvement

Essential Functions:

Increasing new submissions, quotes and premium by performing the following:

  1. Conduct at least 20 meetings with customers (in person or via video) a week to demonstrate web and phone quoting capabilities and register new users in order to drive new business submissions in the door.
  2. Weekly reporting of sales meetings that occurred each week and the forecasting of meetings scheduled for the upcoming weeks.
  3. Timely follow up and continuous communication with customers/prospects to find out and take advantage of additional opportunities.
  4. Systematic prospecting and arranging meetings with potential new customers, and with customers that have not reached their potential.
  5. Identify and establish a relationship with the key contacts making sure we are doing business with the right people in each agency operation.
  6. Work with the USLI & Arlington/Roe team to review web activity to spot trends positive and negative and addressing these trends immediately.
  7. Establish an active relationship with both USLI Regional Sales Manager and Arlington/Roe main sales contact to regularly discuss strategy and tactics including sales issues, travel and follow up.
  8. Pursue continuing education and insurance designations/licenses as outlined in the training and development plan. This will require self-study.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned

Travel:

The job may require some overnight travel including some annual training conferences in Pennsylvania at USLI’s home office. Participants may travel locally to meet with agents and to attend agency networking events. They will be encouraged to participate in associations and conferences to further their network and understanding of the industry.
